Abstract: This chapter examines the current international and regional legal regime for the protection of marine environment from offshore oil and gas activities, including the regimes relating to (prevention, reduction and control of operational and accidental pollution as well as liability and compensation regimes. In particular, the chapter focuses on recent legal developments at the regional level (the Northeast Atlantic, the Arctic and the European Union) since the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
