Abstract: | ‘Parananacooka’ is the standard version of an Aboriginal name as recorded by the first surveyors in about 1840, and applied by them to the main river at Second Valley. Its language is uncertain and its meaning unknown. Some records suggest that very early in settlement history there may possibly have been an abridged alternative form ‘Panacooka’ or ‘Panacooco’. |
