Abstract: The popularity of such forums is remarkable – some comprising of thousands of members. With social media giant, Facebook, responding by shutting down ‘is my partner cheating?’ groups multiple times across various geographical regions, questions regarding the legitimacy of the response have been posed by social media users. This article briefly explains what gives Facebook the right to delete content created by users, remove user accounts or shut down such groups and foreshadows which laws have particular relevance in regulating certain types of comments made users engaging in this emerging social media trend.
