Abstract: | The objective of this research work is is optimise the milling operations when machining prismatic components. This paper describes a new GT based coding scheme which represents the surfaces to be machined of prismatic components. Thus the code can provide input data to a user-friendly expert system to generate more effective process plans. By utilising the proposed GT code, current databases and process planning knowledge, the further development of a generative CAPP system on a PC platform will enable a company to expand and modify the system to optimise its current machining facilities. |
