Abstract: Thermolysis of Ru3(μ3-PhC2C6-point triple bond; length half of m-dashCPh)(μ-CO)(CO)9 results in dimerisation, with concomitant internal cyclisation of the 1,3-diyne ligands to two methyleneindyne molecules which are attached in η2 and η4 modes to a novel Ru6 cluster core.
