Abstract: The vibration characteristics of stiffened plate subjected to in-plane loads have been studied by the finite element method. The characteristic equations for the natural frequencies, buckling loads and their corresponding mode shapes are obtained from the equation of motion. The vibration frequencies and buckling load parameter for various modes of rectangular stiffened plate with stiffeners varying in numbers and spacing subjected to in-plane loads and pure Shear have been determined for different aspect ratios and edge conditions. The correlations of the natural frequencies and buckling parameters obtained by the present approach with those published in the literature are found to show good agreement.
